Claire is initially a self-taught art enthusiast who developed her passion for paper and textile into a professional activity, starting her own stationery company in 2003. Claire studied under French painter Monique Bigle. After moving to Vancouver in 1989, she further pursued her art education with classes and hands-on training in different artistic media: sketching, watercolors, paper making, paper maché , pottery, glass work, art history.
Inspired by BC ‘s landscapes, Claire developed her own technique that layers textile, playing with transparency, shininess, and texture to create collages that are one of a kind. The addition of watercolor touches and some natural elements enhances the 3D effect in her original mixed-media art pieces. Her line of “one of a kind” greeting cards, handmade with similar collage technique are designed and produced in her Richmond studio.
Claire is present at various craft and art markets in and around Vancouver, as well as in selected stores and galleries. In addition, she is commissioned to create art pieces for private clients. She also teach art classes.
Claire passionate about giving back to the community and she consistently volunteers her time to various organizations. She is a board member of "Artist in Our Midst" and a member of the "Watershed Artworks Gallery"
My home studio is located in Richmond, overlooking a large park. It is a bright, cosy little space where I feel inspired to create.
